    • Letter to Mercer from Mother, dated December 12, 1944 from Hoboken, GA. This letter is written on stationery fromMcCool & Harrington, Groceries-Shoes-Hats-Men's & Women's Wear-Hardware-Farm Supplies; A. M. McCool, Manager, Hoboken, GA. "Mercer darling, I am having to stay in the store, so haven't had much time to write. I am sending you $400 to come home on the bus or train, whichever schedule fits better. It is too cold for you to "thumb", darling. Be sure and come on bus, or train. I wish there was some way you could let me know when you would reach Waynes-I'd be sure to meet you- could you wireme, collect? When you find out? I know you are going to be busy studying for exams-maybe you could phone the train office, and bus station and find out what schedule they have-then phone your wire and tell them to send it collect. It really has been cold here and I know it has been there too. I wonder if it has snowned there? Did you get the hog (sp) o.k.? I hope you get along just grand on your exams, daling. I'll surely be thinking about you each day this week. I can hardly wait for you to get here. It is hard to realize another Christmas is here, isn't it? I have a note from Dr. Spratlin that your glasses have been mailed direct to you. Hope you get them in plenty of time for your studying. Have a nice trip home, ( ). All the time in the world Ito my wonderful boy. Dennary, Mother $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
